Canine Cubby - activity centre for dogs
Donna Bolton was inspired to open Canine Cubby, an Activity Centre for Dogs, after realising that there was an increasing demand for hydrotherapy, doggie day care, and natural therapies for dogs in the Yatala / Ormeau area. Having worked as an aged care nurse and paramedic for 12 years, Donna had seen first hand the many benefits of hydrotherapy and natural therapies in the people she was helping. As a Boxer owner and breeder, she soon learnt that hydrotherapy and natural therapies could also have remarkable benefits to dogs.
Donna understood that travelling long distances with a dog requiring hydrotherapy for rehabilitation and health, could undo the good work the therapy provides. Seeing that the only hydrotherapy centres were a good hour drive from most Yatala/Ormeau based dog owners, she saw that something closer was needed.
Hydrotherapy
Canine Cubby’s ionised, heated pool may help with:
* weight loss
*improved recovery time from injury and surgery
* muscle wastage and stiffness
* improved fitness
Swimming lessons
Not all dogs can swim so if you have a backyard pool, dam or go boating regularly it may be an excellent idea to make sure your dog can swim. Life jackets are available for purchase for dogs from Canine Cubby.
Hydro-bathing
One of Canine Cubby’s many fantastic services is the heated, dual tank hydro-bath. The therapeutic spray nozzle helps to stimulate the dog’s circulation, and your dog will enjoy the deep massaging shampoo and all-natural products used.
Bring your dog in for a special hydro-bath & see for yourself how good your dog will look and smell. The price includes towel drying, nail clipping and ear cleansing.
Only $15.00!! (A blow dyer is available for a small extra fee).
Doggie Day Care
Does your dog spend many hours at home alone? Is your dog destructive, barks excessively, or has separation anxiety? Day care could help.
Why send your dog to day care?
Socialisation, manners, toilet training, stimulation, games to play, new things to learn, fun and exercise.
Supervision after surgery - dogs can be kept quiet, and have the advantage of hydrotherapy, Reiki, and magna therapy, which may aid in faster recovery time.
Puppies gain socialisation skills, and regular meals can be provided. Donna recommends that puppies attend day care weekly to ensure growth into happy, well adjusted dogs.
Dogs can attend Canine Cubby for day care as often as you like, with most dog owners opting for a regular routine of weekly or fortnightly visits.
Massage
Most people agree - massage makes you feel great! What many people may not realise is that is exactly how good a regular massage feels to your dog. There are some excellent overall health benefits from massage including:
* may aid in injury recovery
* helps to prevent injuries
* reduces stress
* enhance metabolism and circulation
* improved performance in sporting dogs
* helps promote healthy skin and coat
* promotes general wellbeing
Reiki
Reiki is a gentle, relaxing healing method that improves the flow of energy through the body. It is usually felt as subtle warmth radiating from the practitioners hands. Reiki reaches and clears blockages stored in our energetic bodies - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. The Reiki practitioner allows the Reiki energy to flow from their attuned hands to the patient. Reiki can also be sent over distances, making it ideal for animals that are wild or not willing to allow touch. Reiki can be sent to people and animals. Reiki may be of benefit in cases of:
* skin problems
* joint conditions
* behavioural issues
* stress and anxiety
* general wellbeing
