Head office location:
For the majority of businesses surveyed (78.6%) their Yatala site was the business’ head office. One in 10 sites were branch offices and 10% were regional offices.
Age of YEA businesses:
On average businesses have been located in the YEA for 7.5 Years with over 60% operating for more than 10 Years Almost a quarter of businesses (23.4 per cent) were more than 25 years old.
Origin of Raw Materials and components:
Firms are drawing the majority of their raw materials resources from the south east Queensland Area including:
- The Gold Coast (18.9%)
- Other South East Queensland Markets (33.8%)
- Remainder of Queensland (4.9%)
- Interstate (14.7%)
- International Markets (15.2%)
Business activity and sales:
The majority of business sales (69.7%) go to Queensland markets including:
- The Gold Coast Region (18.8%)
- Other Markets in South East Queensland (37.9%)
- Remainder of Queensland (14.8%)
While there is a strong focus on serving the Queensland Market, interstate and international markets are increasingly important to the Yatala Enterprise Area:

Export activity:
26 per cent of Yatala businesses are exporting, up from 18 per cent the previous year.
Employment:
The projected labour requirement for the YEA is for between 14,000 to 16,000 people within the next five years

This statistic highlights that the YEA is centrally located between the major population areas of Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and is accessible from a wide catchment area.
The YEA Project Skills and Labour Supply Chain Project
The Yatala Enterprise Area (YEA) Skills and Labour Supply Chain Project is an innovative, government-funded initiative to provide workforce solutions for YEA businesses.
The YEA Business Office provides a range of services that:
- Assist YEA businesses to find employees using existing local services Design and develop skills and training services for YEA businesses Link YEA businesses to training providers, providers of Australian Government Employment Services, community based organisations, and schools
- The project is unique because it is driven by YEA businesses through a YEA Project Steering Committee.
